Mayor James S. Artz
Jim Artz is a native Virginian, grew up in the Town of Strasburg, VA. Received his BA Degree from Shepherd College, (now Shepherd University), In Physical Education in 1958, and earned a M.Ed. from the University of Virginia in 1965. Jim taught in the public schools for 33 years, serving at Harrisonburg City Schools, Shenandoah County Schools, Louisa County Schools and Prince William County Schools, retiring in 1991. In 1992 Jim moved to the Town of Louisa and was appointed to the Louisa Town Council in 1995 and was elected Mayor in 2006. Jim and his wife Vi have been married for 52 years and have 4 children, James, Jr., Mitzi, Patsy, and John plus 2 grandchildren, Britany and Jacob Morrison. The Mayors favorite recreational activities include playing golf, attending UVA sports events, and genealogy. |
